Description
Radiologic technologists are very often exposed to different infectious patients. For this reason, the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization set guidelines for the proper use of personal protective equipment and decontamination of reusable medical equipment. In this course, proper hand hygiene, including hand-washing and hand-rubbing techniques, as well as isolation and infection control procedures will be reviewed.
In addition, this module covers the role of the radiologic technologist in preventing the transmission of infectious disease processes in healthcare units and highlights the importance of policies and procedures detailing occupational exposure management when a technologist has been infected accidentally.
